Overview

Glance is the Image Service that stores images and snapshots for OpenStack environment. It is the service that allows you to register, discover, and retrieve virtual machine images for use in OpenStack environment.

Turn on your cloud install openstack HAVANA Glance

On our introductory post we decided to install glance on the controller node. Lets log on to the controller.

Install Glance Service and client

Create the database

Append the configuration to the glance-api-paste.ini file. Make sure you replace the ip address 10.0.0.20 with the ip address of your controller node. The configuration is providing glance to authenticate against keystone using the service tenant and username and password of glance created in the keystone post before.

Append the config file path and flavor to glance-api.conf

Also append the following to glance-registry-paste.ini

Append the config file path and flavor to glance-registry.conf

Replace the database connection settings

Restart the services

Create database schema for glance database

Make sure you have all the enviornment variables set.

Download cirros image and insert it to glance store to be used later
